I don't believe that UASP or any external drives (except maybe eSATA drives) normally give smart readings. there is no storage area detected when i plug in the drive.
based on the sounds the drive makes as it spins up, I believe that the read/write head has experienced some sort of failure. I had an old IDE HITACHI 120 GB HD that failed on me (Drive still spun up) and I used a HD Docking station and used File Recovery program to recover the stuff I wanted off that drive. and it runs in the background and will give an audio warning if a HD temp hits 60*C or for any HD flag warnings that can lead to a HD Failure.
